Maps API Dashboard¶
You can visit your Maps API dashboard by going to your profile in the top bar, and then clicking the Maps API Applicaties button on the left side.
Here you can see the different applications available under your account. Each application will have it’s own settings and security permissions. Viewers from different applications are isolated. To create a new application you can use the Toevoegen button. Each application should be given a name, these are only used for you to recognize your applications. Once created you can visit the details of your application to change it’s settings, it will look like this:
The details screen allows you to remove an existing application or modify the name of the application. Tabs at the top of the page allow you to customize the security settings (Beveiliging en toegang), setting background layers (Achtergrondkaartlagen) and manually creating, viewing and editing maps (Kaarten).
Access Keys and OAuth¶
The security screen is used to setup access keys to access the server API and to setup an OAuth connection for integrations requiring authentication.
To create a new access key you can click on the Nieuwe Access Key button. This will show a green message at the top of the page with the access key id and access key secret. The secret will only be shown once. Once the message is closed it cannot be retrieved again. You may choose to de-activate certain keys or remove them.
Finally the security screen gives the option to fill in the OAuth connection details. For details on OAuth you may see the chapter on OAuth.
Background layers are applied to all maps in this application. By default an application will have no background layers and will give an empty map in the viewer. Using this part of the dashboard you can configure your background layers. Background layers may either be base (basislaag) or non-base (overlay) layers. In any map viewer/editor there may always be only one base layer active. This base layer will never be transparent.
There may be multiple overlay layers (non-base layers), and overlay layers will be transparent allowing users to view the underlying content.
To create a new background layer press the Nieuwe achtergrondlaag button. This will present you with the following screen:
You may use external WMS (Web Map Service) or WFS (Web Feature Service) resources as background layers. Note that these must be publicly available for planviewer to use. The background layer editor will show some additional fields to enter:
Background layers may be sorted. Note that sorting for base layers only changes the default layer shown. To sort layers, simply drag them around by holding your right mouse button over any row in the table. Once finished you must press the now green Sortering Bijwerken button to update the order of background layers. If the sorting is saved the button turns gray again.
The maps (Kaarten) part of the dashboard allows you to create a new map for the application. To create a new map use the Nieuwe kaart button. Existing maps may be edited by using the Details button in their respective row.
In the new map screen you must provide each map with a name. You may choose to enable or disable some features in the viewer by default (showing the print button, showing a reset view button, showing some measuring tools):
When a new map is created it has no dossier outline set. Before you can add any data to your map you must first provide a dossier outline. To do this you can click the Dossiergrens Instellen button. This will take you to the editor, for details see the Map editor section below.
Once a dossier outline has been set the view of the map detail page will change a little and reveal some extra functions:
The Data Downloaden button will allow you to download the data attached to the map. You may choose a formay before downloading:
Similarly to the data download you may use the Snapshot button to create an image of your map. Before downloading the image you must provide some options.
The dossier editor will by default show a map of The Netherlands. A message is shown indicating that we first need to provide a dossier outline before we can proceed to the editor. You may use the search function on the top left corner to quickly go to a place.
The two tools on the right allow you to either select a single or an area at once. Before these tools have any effect you will have to zoom in until outlines become visible, as shown below:
Once any number of outlines is selected, you may click the save (Opslaan) button to proceed to the editor.
On the editor you may use the Shapfile upload icon to select a shapefile and optional SLD (Styled Layer Descriptor) all combined in a single zip file to upload data to your map.
In order to upload a shapefile you must provide a zip, you must also indicate the type of layer for your shapefile. It must either consist of points, lines or polygons. If the wrong type is indicated the layer will end up being empty.
